Grandma’s Chocolate Chip Cookies
My oldest daughter LOVES cooking and baking. I know, thanks to Junior MasterChef most children in her age group are the same, but the thing is she has not even seen one episode. Anyway, yesterday we were going for a playdate to a friend’s house and I suggested that we make some of Grandma’s choc chip cookies. Let me just pause here and tell you that these cookies are THE BEST choc chip cookies you have ever eaten. Anyway, she drops everything she was doing and starts getting all the ingredients and the recipe out. As you may have guessed this is not unusal for her, but this time, what was extra nice was how she included her little sister and was teaching her how to bake. So I had to get the camera out, and needless to say, include it in this post.
If you have read this far, then I think you deserve a special treat and as much I would love to invite you all over for a taste, unfortunately they are all gone already, so I think you may have to settle for the recipe instead :-).
Grandma’s Choc Chip Cookies
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
125 grams butter
1 3/4 Cups Self Raising Flour
1 Cup Dark Chocolate Choc bits (I use Nestle Dark Choc Bits
Melt the butter (and then let cool so it doesn’t melt choc bits)
Beat egg and sugar together until the mixture turns pale yellow and then add the Vanilla and beat just a little bit more.
Now Add Self raising flour and mix with a wooden spoon followed by the Choc Chips.
Mix it all and gently add the cooled melted butter.
Using a teaspoon, shape dough into small balls (I like small – but you can do whatever size you like) and place on a greased baking tray.
Depending on whether you like your cookies soft or chewy, bake in a oven at 180degrees for 10-15 minutes. I like ours soft, so I checked them at 10 minutes and take them out at the first sign of them turning slightly golden, and let them cool for only a couple of minutes then put them away in an air tight container immediately.
And here is some for our playdate:
And the rest for us 🙂
